Ever Seen A Queen Lay An Egg?

The nursery is filling up in my backyard hive, thanks to this gal. Look for the bit of red paint on her back to identify the Queen Bee. Watch her deposit eggs into honeycomb cells … and the worker bees wriggle with joy.

  1. My hive was very late to kick out the drones, didn’t start in earnest until December. It was a swarm that I caught mid-year, so the colony took awhile to ramp up. They are super strong now, though, and I’m excited to see what they do this spring.

  2. Super cool video! And check out that drone wondering what everybody is so excited about. Have your hives started kicking out their drones yet?
